Irish pianist Peter Mack is in great demand as a performer, clinician, convention artist, adjudicator, and teacher.  Celebrated for his moving playing, and his easy rapport with audiences, he has performed throughout the United States and Europe, as well as in Australia, India, and the former Soviet Union.  He is the winner of the New Orleans, Young Keyboard Artists, and Pacific International Piano Competitions. His prize in the Sherman-Clay competition included a Steinway grand piano.  Naturally, he is a Steinway artist!  
Peter Mack is well known for his extensive repertoire, having performed twenty-six concertos with orchestras.  A choral scholar at Trinity College Dublin, and a fellow of Trinity College London, he has a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Washington.  His principal teachers were Frank Heneghan, and Bela Siki. Past engagements include performances in two of the most acousticallyperfect performance spaces in Europe; the Salle Cortot of the Ecole Normale in Paris, and theHaydnsaal of the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria.
Recently, Dr. Mack received the extraordinary honor of being asked to deliver both the Advanced Piano Masterclass at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) annual convention, and the Masterclass for MTNA Winners at the biennial National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP) in Illinois.  His students are frequent winners of local, national, and international competitions.  He is the proud teacher of twenty-one MTNA national finalists, and three MTNA national first place winners.  In the most recent MTNA election for national officers, he was voted president-elect.  His term as president of the organization will run from 2023-2025.

​Dr. Colleen Hunter, DMA, NCTM

  Dr. Colleen Hunter, DMA, NCTM, teaches applied and class piano at Gonzaga University, and private students in Spokane, and maintains a private piano studio in her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, teaching a wide range of ages and levels from children to adults.     Nationally and state certified with MTNA, Dr. Hunter is active at the state and local level in Washington and Idaho, currently serving as President for Washington State Music Teachers.  She is past president of both the Spokane Music Teachers and the North Idaho Music Teachers chapters.  As a Visting Artist with WSMTA, she enjoys working with the
Musical Artistry Program (MAP) and adjudicating and judging for many music events
​in the northwest.  
   Dr. Hunter collaborates professionally with area musicians and in the local  schools.  
She plays with the Panhandle Symphony Orchestra and has played with the Coeur d’Alene Symphony, as well as, the Opus Series for the Coeur d’Alene Chamber Music Society.  
​For several years as entertainment coordinator for the summer festival, Art on the Green, she directed the festival’s weekend of music events and helped promote its winter lecture series and home concerts. 
   Dr. Hunter holds degrees from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and Seattle Pacific University.  Teachers include Richard Cass (UMKC), Marcile Mack (SPU), Bela Nagy (Boston University and Sion, Switzerland), and Margaret Saunders Ott (Spokane, WA).  She is married to Dr. Sam Hunter and they have two adult children.

Dr. Jeffrey Shumway

Dr. Jeffrey Shumway taught piano and piano-related courses for 31 years at Brigham Young University, retiring in 2016. Born in Boise, Idaho, he obtained degrees from BYU, The Juilliard School, and Indiana University. Prior to joining the faculty at BYU in 1985, he taught at Tarleton State University in Texas.
Dr. Shumway has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and the Far East. He is a 45-year member of both the American Piano Quartet and
the American Piano Duo, the latter with Dr. Del Parkinson of Boise State University.
He is the recipient of the Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement from the
Utah Music Teachers Association and the Karl G. Maeser award for Teaching Excellence
from BYU. Performances include the 32 Sonatas of Beethoven in their entirety, a project for which he was honored with the inaugural Gina Bachauer Medal of Artistic Distinction, and cycles of most of the solo works of Ravel and Chopin. Dr. Shumway is known for his 5P/10H arrangements in collusion with The Five Browns, including works of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Smetana, and Gershwin, among others. He and his wife Diane reside in Corvallis, Montana (she is a Darby native), and have six children/spouses and eleven grandchildren.
